Photography
I've always had a passion for photography and capturing images of the world around me. Over the years I've experimented with different styles of photography using a variety of different cameras, from 35mm analogue film cameras to DSLR digital cameras. On my iPhone camera roll alone I currently have over 100,000 photos, so you could say I'm a little obsessed. Below is a small collection of some of the different types of photos I've captured.
35MM Film
I've used a few different film cameras over the years, including the Holga135, the Fisheye, and the Supersampler from Lomography, as well as an Olympus OM10. I grew up using film cameras and there's something quite special about waiting to develop the film before you find out how the shots turned out. I've also enjoyed experimenting with double exposures, and long exposure photography using analogue cameras.
Digital
I've surpassed 100,000 photos in my iPhone camera roll. I love the challenge of seeking the "perfect" photo, bringing together great lighting, composition, an enigmatic subject, and so on. I mostly just document my day-to-day life, but I especially love chronicling trips abroad, and can easily take several thousand photos during a week-long trip to a new place. Occasionally I'll be inspired to stage a photoshoot, and implement a concept I've come up with, but most of my camera roll is just filled with candid shots.
Products
In one of my former lives, I created content for an American restaurant for use on their website, on social media, and for print materials. I quite enjoy product photography, trying to showcase food in it's best light, to the point you want to reach into the screen and take a bite. It can be challenging working with food, which tends to only look good for a limited time, so you have to plan ahead well, and shoot quick. It's a fun challenge.
Light Painting
During my time experimenting with long exposure photography, I've had the pleasure of creating some fun light paintings, from using ignited steel wool spinning from a whisk at the end of a piece of rope, to using different colour torches to write and draw in the air. It's always a good time, and a bit of hit and miss with the results.
